Julik Tarkhanov • Software engineering with a knack for style.

The way I work, plainly.

  • Less tech is better.

Do you really need three data stores and twenty services? A single database and a single source of truth usually gets you further, with fewer people minding it.

  • I love existing codebases.

Your app did its job — it is to be respected, not scolded. I do surgical interventions instead of sweeping rewrites.

  • Rails is great for LLMs.

Terse code means less to ingest. I structure libraries and docs so a model is productive from the very first prompt.

  • I know when to go off the rails.

Playbooks only accommodate the known. I take the side alley when it gets you there sooner — with care, and on purpose.

Recent work & honest mileage.

A consultancy of one, with two decades of receipts. Before software there was film — which is where I learned that deadlines and budgets are facts, not failures.

Got a system that needs a steady hand?

Tell me what hurts. I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m the right person for it.
